(One of this week's "Featured Artist")

One of the BEST ALBUMS of this year is from American Idol's eighth season "runner-up". With an album as powerful as his debut, I wonder why the general public didn't vote more for him during last season. You can tell that LAMBERT was influenced by legendary artists like Queen, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, and David Bowie...it's so easy to recognize it in his style of singing and musical choices. LAMBERT, raised in San Diego, was heavily active in his high school's arts department...whether it was in musicals or the choir. Then, of course, he had his stint on American Idol...if it wasn't for ALL of these moments and experiences in his life, LAMBERT wouldn't be here to grace us with his presence...

...and I am so happy he is. "For Your Entertainment" is an album unlike any other. From production to lyrics, this album is a joyride that catapults the listener to heights that no one else has been able to do so this year. Sure...other artists have tried...but this guy's voice is impeccably grand and enough to stop you dead in your tracks...and I can't get enough of it. The album features several hit-makers, including Pink, Lady Gaga, Max Martin, Linda Perry, Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Kara DioGuardi, and more, putting together an irresistible and forceful blend of Pop and Rock. LAMBERT takes control of some of the writing of the album as well. He has the ability to command the song and make it his own...a final result that can't be duplicated by NO ONE else. There are moments on the album that are very teasing and persuasively flirtatious ("Strut", "For Your Entertainment", and "Fever") ...but what had me at the edge of my seat were two songs in particular. The first being "Soaked". Written by Brian Bellamy of MUSE, "Soaked" starts off intense with a very profound Mediterranean-inspired orchestral arrangement infused with heavy guitars and Rock elements...then it dies down into a very solemn ballad...only to be led into a penetrating vocal performance by LAMBERT that features a score similar to the introduction itself. Very much like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", I had to pay tribute to this song...absolutely bone-chilling and a definite eclectic musical rollercoaster. The other song is "Sleepwalker" ...on this song, (wow...I just want to thank this guy for being so gifted), LAMBERT's voice soars over a very seductive Rock melody depicting the aftermath of a broken relationship...and the guitar solo towards the middle is orgasmic in its own right!

DAMN...okay, let me compose myself...! ADAM LAMBERT is someone that is set to become a legend...if he keeps it up. "For Your Entertainment" made him one of this week's "featured artists" in my eyes because it's an album that had me picking up my jaw several times during my listening of it. Definitely a must-have!
