(This week's FEATURED ARTIST)

Anyone can call themselves a rapper...at least anyone who believes they could flow like the best ones out there. When reality hits home, we're left with those who are actually talented. Yes, we know about JAY-Z...how can't we? Every time we turn around, he's there. We keep hearing about Drake and how he's going to blow the minds off of everyone with his upcoming album Thank Me Later. And then there's Kanye West...the mastermind whose future project has already been labeled the "greatest hip-hop album of the past ten years." But what about LUDACRIS? The way I see it, people are concerned about what new hot track is out at the moment...and when the next track comes out that sends the chickenheads to the dance floor, they quickly forget about the previous song that made their "hot-ass" side come out tenfold! I say this because we need to stop talking about Blueprint III and Lil' Wayne's newly-appointed year in prison and give acknowledgement to other artists that deserve it.

Longevity is the word that comes to mind when it comes to Hip-Hop...and yes, while we get to constantly hear twenty tracks in constant radio rotation featuring the same artists over and over again, we also get to hear the latest music from one of the hottest rappers in the game. LUDACRIS' seventh studio album Battle of the Sexes has been a longtime coming...and I am beyond impressed by it. In my opinion, it can easily be one of the best albums he's recorded in his entire career. The album was originally set to be released last year as a duo with label-mate Shawnna. Unfortunately, she decided to leave Disturbing tha Peace to sign on with Nappy Boy Entertainment. Battle of the Sexes later became a solo project by LUDACRIS featuring a huge list of collaborators, including Ne-Yo, Monica, Flo Rida, Trey Songz, Eve, Trina, and more.

The production value of this album is quite entertaining...hit-makers like The Neptunes, Bangladesh, and Swizz Beats put forth effort alongside Kajun, Khao, T-Minus, and others to make an album that is undeniably sexy and thought-provoking all at once. You'll of course get the dose of club bangers...but you'll also receive some very serious moments with some of the songs. One song that comes to mind is B.O.T.S. Radio featuring I-20 and Shawnna (yes, she still does make several appearances on the album). The song takes on the form of a skit as various "callers" hit up the local radio station complaining about the wrongs that either a man or woman can do. Definitely revealing...and above anything else, completely true to what's going on with people today. Some of the more sexier moments LUDACRIS has to offer comes with songs like Sex Room featuring Trey Songz. Multiple times better than Splash Waterfalls, you can tell that LUDACRIS wants nothing but to pleasure all the ladies in every way possible. Another provocative track is Feelin' So Sexy featuring Shawnna...I'm pretty sure we all love that late night erotic phone call from someone that is in heavy need of some sexual healing. (I mean, if you a ho, that's different...I always speak from a relationship standpoint!)

Battle of the Sexes also takes on other deep topics like being with someone who above everything that could possibly go wrong...you, in the end, can't get away from them... (Can't Live With You featuring Monica) ...as well as learning the art of confiding in another person... (Tell Me a Secret featuring Ne-Yo). The album will have two versions (much like every other album being released). The DELUXE VERSION will include the remix to How Low featuring Ciara and Pitbull, as well as the bonus track Rollercoaster featuring Dru Hill and Shawnna.

LUDACRIS has a masterpiece on his hands...and I will definitely keep that in mind when it's time for me to compile my Top Favorite Albums of 2010. In the meanwhile, pick up this album...I guarantee you won't be disappointed. LUDACRIS is already on tour to promote Battle of the Sexes, so make sure you visit ticketmaster.com for information on when the tour will hit your town! (Oh yeah, there's a rumor that the sequel to LUDACRIS' 2008 album Theatre of the Mind will be released sometime this year...it's tentatively being called Ludaversal...make sure to keep an eye on that as well!)
