CIARA's last album Fantasy Ride didn't live up to its expectations...holding no RIAA certifications, the album has only sold an approximate 200,000 copies since its release back in May of 2009. Although the production and content of the album were superb to many, it failed to make any impact...the only single that went on to do well on the charts was the collaboration with Justin Timberlake entitled Love Sex Magic. Shortly after Fantasy Ride's release, CIARA began work on her follow-up album. Slated for a Summer 2010 release, BASIC INSTINCT features the lead single Ride with a guest appearance from Ludacris. And I must say I like it...it really takes us back to earlier work done by CIARA like the song Oh. The single, written and produced by The-DREAM and TRICKY STEWART (alongside CIARA), will be released digitally on April 27th, while the music video will be released this coming Wednesday, April 21st on VEVO. The only thing is...I don't really see this single going too far...at least not with other artists trying to catch everyone's attention...what do you think? I'm pretty sure someone is gonna say the song sounds dated...and I wouldn't be surprised. Either way, I love it...it's exactly what I've been wanting to hear from CIARA...
RIHANNA has been enjoying one of the longest stretches she's had atop the Billboard charts with her current single Rude Boy. But if we think she'll be sitting down and taking a rest for a while, we are sadly mistaken. A few months ago, I read an article that hinted at RIHANNA re-releasing her Rated R album as a remix album. At first, the idea was dismissed...but as of last night, it was confirmed by my BABYBOI and the album WILL see the light of day NEXT MONTH on the 25th! The album will include ten songs, including a FULL VERSION of the original intro track Madhouse, as well as remixes to Rude Boy, Photographs, Stupid In Love, G4L, and more by New York-based remixer Chew Fu! RIHANNA's next single, Rockstar101 featuring Slash, will be released to the public in the coming weeks. Here's what we could expect the remix album to sound like...this is the Chew Fu Granite Fix to the mega-smash single Hard...
DRAKE is showing everyone up by proving that he could do no wrong! He's been riding the success from his past singles and is now getting to release one of the most highly sought out albums in the Hip-Hop genre entitled Thank Me Later (slated for a release of June 15th). His debut single from the album entitled Over has already become a Top 20 hit! Fans can look forward to the upcoming NEW single Find Your Love whose video will be filmed in Jamaica. Just a few weeks ago, another song from the album (which was originally meant to be the lead single) leaked onto the Internet. If you haven't heard it yet, here's Shut It Down featuring The-DREAM!
Speaking of The-DREAM...who is about to release his rumored FINAL studio album called Love King...he will be releasing a mixtape entitled The Chronicles of Nicki before the release of the album. I just read that he may POSSIBLY release a FOURTH ALBUM tentatively called Love/Affair. Then again with everyone saying one thing and others saying another, I'm not really sure if I can hold my breath on this news...! Either way, keep an eye out for The Chronicles of Nicki and Love King to be released during the next two months! Here's the music video for the lead single in case you haven't seen it yet...
